Brief History of my Depression
It’s difficult to say when my depression started. I was diagnosed around January 2002, but it started a long time before, probably around 1999, when I was 15. There was no major trigger event, just a gentle slide caused by low self esteem, stress and trying to do everything for everyone.
At first I didn’t want drugs, so I had analytical therapy. I started taking Effexor in May 2002, in the run up to my A-level Exams. I’ve taken a whole load of drugs since then, which are all documented in the Medications I’ve Taken page.
I went to University at Imperial College London in the summer of 2002, but I had to leave for a break in March 2003, because I was seriously depressed and suicidal. A few days in a Hospital followed, which was not fun, and then came a slow recovery. I’ve been battling with the illness ever since.
I returned to Imperial in October 2004 to pick up my studies again, and have now successfuly completed my first year of Uni.
