New Drug
Thank you to everyone who has contacted me to offer support, or just to tell me that they have read my column. If you’ve e-mailed me and I don’t get back to you immediately, please don’t take it personally. I am finding it very difficult to keep in contact with people, but please do keep writing. It means a lot.
Not a lot has changed since my last post. I’m still ill, and the AD I’m on (Effexor XL) is not working, even on a double dose. So tomorrow, I start on a new one. 20mg a day of Fluoxetine, otherwise known as Prozac. I think I can assume that you have all heard of Prozac, and now probably consider me to be fairly insane to be taking it, given the bad press it has received. However, it is in the same group of AD’ as my last one, and whilst it is the most commonly known AD on the market, this is ony because it was the first SSRI (a subset of AD drugs) to be released for use.
That is not to say that I will suffer no side effects, but I am already living with a fair dose of those, so what is there to lose?!
Anyway, enough of me. Look after yourselves, and remember I’m thinking of you all.
