The joys of having finished work
As of Friday 20th August, I am now officially back in the student population of the country. I worked at Coopers of Stortford for nearly 11 months, in the call centre, taking orders, and answering queries. It actually suited me quite well. The 8:45 - 2pm hours were nice, and meant I could do other things in the afternoons.
I am, however, loving having stopped. Lie ins are becoming a habit, as is breakfast in front of the tv. I‘ve been getting back into computer games - notably Caesar 3, Neverwinter Nights, and Transport Tycoon.
And then of course I’m returning to University in October. I haven‘t heard from them yet about accomodation, but I should hopefully be allocated a place in halls on a medical basis for the first year.
Since I successfully completed the first 6 months of the course the first time around, I’ve been allowed to leave the coursework and exam grade standing, so I don‘t even need to attend the first 6 months of lectures and practicals if I don’t want to.
I‘ll be going to all the lectures though, because my brain is so slow at the moment. I haven’t done any academic work for over 18 months, and even helping my sister with A-level Chemistry revision was hard work! But it should give me a gentle lead in, which is nice.
I‘m looking forward to going back, but I’m also very nervous. I have a lot of bad memories associated with the campus, and bad experiences from before. Plus I will be 2 years older than the majority of my year. I don’t know how that will work out, but hopefully I should have a good four years. Watch this space I guess.
