Live music is fantastic! I am fully aware that most people worked this out years ago, but I have actually only very recently been to any “gigs”.

The first was Tom McRae sometime last year, in Manchester. It was a very small venue, and we were standing all of about 1 1/2 metres from the front of the very very low stage. His music is extremely depressing, but he‘s also one of the funniest people I’ve ever met.

That was followed up this summer with Simon and Garfunkel in Hyde Park. That was the most amazing experience. About 50,000 people, all singing together, under a stary sky.

And in July next year I’m hoping to repeat something of the feeling again, when Ben and I see R.E.M. at the same venue. And hopefully, many other people in the future.
